To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Statute of Autonomy of Madrid, Fundación Canal is pleased to present this exhibition to showcase the social phenomenon of the 1980s in social, cultural, artistic, and economic spheres, and more… An explosion of creativity that goes beyond the famous “Movida.” Through artistic creation, the exhibition speaks of Madrid’s importance in the origins of current-day Spanish society and its transition toward modernity.
A look at the music, film, art, politics, fashion, and life during this flourishing period, throbbing and bursting with excitement, that highlights the milestones and iconography of an entire generation. It does this with key elements from those years, like photographs, paintings, newspapers, magazines, posters, fanzines, album covers, ads, and television clips.
Over 300 works from private and public collection compose this visual chronicle where you can view the work of more than 80 great creators of the period, including photographers, painters, graphic designers, and more.

In this video workshop for families, we introduce kids to the “Madrid: Creative Chronicle of the 80s” exhibition so they can discover the art, music, and icons of this decade and be inspired to create a map of the Community of Madrid with photos, drawings, graffiti… And you can share it on social media with the hashtag #expoMadrid80s!
