It is difficult to find a definition for art or to clearly define its use. In the same vein, many people wonder about the true value of a work of art. Art has always been a fundamental element to stir consciences, to spark feeling in your gut, to raise questions, to suggest reflections… Art is a tool to question the world, to analyse it, and to attempt to understand it. And this certainly is its great power and has been throughout the course of history.

Associate Professor and Academic Dean of the Department of Art History at the University of Valladolid (UVa). His research is focused on the relationships between art and power. He has published different projects and participated in several R+D projects related to this topic. He is a member of the Recognised Research Group at the University of Valladolid and the Consolidated Research Unit of the Castilla y León Regional Government, Arte, poder y sociedad en la Edad Moderna (Art, Power, and Society in the Modern Age) through the UVa. As an educator, his background lies in contemporary art and its relationship to visual culture and advertising, teaching at the Faculty of Social, Legal, and Communication Sciences at the UVa in Segovia.
With a degree in Information Science and a master’s degree from El País, she has been working in the culture department for TVE’S La 1 news show for 20 years. With her professional background and involvement, she is a leading journalist in the cultural field.
