DESCRIPTION

From the journeys imagined by Jules Verne to the landscapes explored by Hergé, art, literature, and territories of adventure have acted as essential vehicles for understanding and conveying interest in nature.

The conference Naturaleza y paisaje. De la fascinación a la conservación (Nature and Landscape. From Fascination to Conservation) provides a journey through the profound relationship that humans have historically maintained with nature through the landscape. From aesthetic emotion and discovery to awareness of its value and the need to protect it, landscapes have acted as much more than a mere backdrop: they are a source of knowledge, cultural inspiration, and environmental commitment.

Eduardo Martínez de Pisón, geographer, mountaineer, writer, and committed advocate for the conservation of natural spaces, explores how humanity has interpreted nature and landscapes, especially mountains, transforming physical experience into emotion, narrative, and artistic creation.

The event also examines the evolution from feeling to conservation, analysing the origins of the first environmental protectors and highlighting two key ideas: the immense value of natural landscapes and the need to preserve them as shared heritage.
