Gardener, landscaper, and botanical art history researcher Eduardo Barba invites us to delve into the fascinating and surprising world of plants. This is a universe that protects and benefits us, all while helping to create friendlier and more resilient cities.
We explore the positive effect of plants on people and their environment, which have been widely documented. Historical gardens and landscaping are an ancestral response to humankind’s need to live in harmony with nature.
Renaturing our cities and homes is an investment in health and well-being. Every green space brings us closer to a nature that cares for us, inspires us, and helps us to face the environmental challenges of our day and age.
He is gardener, landscaper, gardening professor and botanical artwork researcher. He has published several books on plants in different contexts, and every week he writes and speaks about gardening, both in his column in the newspaper El País, and in his slot ‘Meterse en un jardín’ on Cadena SER. He has also specialised in the identification of plants that appear in artworks for domestic and international collections. Indeed, he conducts a large part of his botanical research activity at the Prado Museum, be it articles in catalogues, directly on his social media accounts, or conferences. He has also curated an exhibition for this institution: “Un paseo botánico por el Prado (A Botanical Stroll Through The Prado).”
He holds a degree in Audio-Visual Communication (2001) from the University of Salamanca. From 2016 through 2018, he was director and host of Los desayunos on TVE. He currently heads Zoom Net, TVE’s technology and digital culture programme.
