Cancun schools join the reforestation

Last March, as part of the Reforesting Solidarity programme, several schools in Cancun, Mexico participated in a reforestation day that helped plant more than 35,000 plants and relocate more than 360 trees in various green areas of Playa del Carmen, Cancun.

The initial idea for this important action came from Félix, a boy who since 2008, when he was only 9 years old, has travelled around the world to raise awareness of the importance of preserving green areas, particularly among children and young people.

Felix is 18 years old now and has brought his initiative to fruition through the programme Reforesting Solidarity. This programme contributes to the goal of reforesting a billion trees by 2020 in order to protect the environment and combat global warming.

More than 6,000 people from different schools and local organizations took part in this great environmental action in Cancun.

Have you done any similar actions in your school to help preserve and care for the Earth and fight global warming?
