The Minister of the Environment, Agriculture and of the Interior of the Community of Madrid, Carlos Novillo, inaugurated the artistic environmental installation Planeta azul ¿Planeta agua? (Blue Planet. Water Planet?), located in Madrid’s Puerta del Sol, to raise awareness regarding responsible water use.
On the pavement of one of the city’s most emblematic enclaves, Planeta azul ¿Planeta agua? is an anamorphic illustration spanning over 97 m2 that invites citizens to participate. It is available to visitors until 19 July.
In an entertaining way, this work brings together the Fundación’s two areas of activity: the environment and culture. It aims to raise awareness in the population regarding the value of water and how important it is to care for it.
This activity is part of the special programming scheduled for 2026 to celebrate Canal de Isabel II’s 175th and Fundación Canal’s 25th anniversaries. This also coincides with celebration of Environment Year in the Community of Madrid, with initiatives to protect and improve the region’s natural resources. Madrid Town Hall collaborates on this project by sharing the city’s strategy for water as an essential resource on the installation’s informational panel.
